Indoor Pond

8' x 8' x 4'
Construction:  Interlaced patio ties and pond liner on a sand bed
Filtration: Hayward Pro Series Sand Filter, 20 gallons per minute
Pump: Hydra max 1HP self priming pump
Heater:  Modified in-line Jacuzzi heater with flow gauge and thermostat.
Lighting: Track lighting with dimmer switch and underwater pond lights.
Construction:  This was built in a garage then disassembled and rebuilt in the basement of my home..
Cost:  The entire project with all supplies and parts cost two thousand dollars.  You might be able to do it for less, but I decided to go for the gusto on this project..
Comments: I had been dragging my feet on this for about a year.  I have to give most of the credit for it's final construction to a very good friend, Darryl Hoskins.  Without his know how, tools, and ability to put up with my inability to handle tools, it wouldn't have been done.  Thanks buddy.

What's in it:  Managuense, Lyonsi, Convicts, Festae, Robertsoni, Carpinte, Cynaguttum, Istlantum, Rainbow, Chanchito, Meeki, Nicks, Chocolate, Dovii, Salvini, Kraussi, Tomosopoensis, Tinfoil Barbs, Gourami (yes...Gourami..two kinds.) Adonis Pleco, Papa Panaque Pleco, and several other very large Pleco.

Juvenile Pacu with Dither fish.  I used Koi to cycle the tank originally.  This one was left over and got quite large...before it was eaten by the Red tail Catfish.

The Fish Room

Originally I planned on only housing the pond in the basement.  Currently I have a 150 & a 300 gallon tank, 4 - 90 gallon tanks, 4 - 75 gallon tanks, 4 - 55 gallon tanks, and a 30 gallon fry tank.  One of my biggest pleasures is going down to the "Fish Cave" after a hard day at work and just enjoying the fish.  I have to run a dehumidifier 24/7  for obvious reasons.  But having it all in one area makes it all the easier to enjoy.

New Fish Room with Metal Stands
One of the first things I did was to change my electric service to handle the load.  I installed ground fault protectors after a couple of particularly "shocking" experiences.

The next thing I did was construct stands that would hold the tanks and also provide me enough room to get underneath the top tank.  The metal stands were awful.  I couldn't get my arm into the tank to clean.  These have more space

The finished product is more organized and aesthetically pleasing.
